Shipton’s Jumble Sale Brings the Community Together and Raises Over £1,280 for The Boot Inn
On the afternoon of Saturday, 8th February, Shipton Bellinger Village Community Centre became a hub of excitement and community spirit as over 200 people gathered for the SNAP campaign’s jumble sale. With residents and visitors from neighbouring villages in attendance, the event proved just how much support there is for bringing The Boot Inn back to the heart of Shipton Bellinger.
Tables were stacked high with donated items, from books and clothing to household goods and hidden treasures. Bargain hunters eagerly browsed, while volunteers ensured everything ran smoothly. Adding to the welcoming atmosphere was a tempting selection of homemade cakes, kindly baked and donated by local residents. With tea and sweet treats on hand, many took the opportunity to pause, chat, and enjoy the sense of community that makes this campaign so special.
By the end of the afternoon, an incredible £1,280.39 had been raised—every penny going towards the mission of reopening The Boot Inn as a community-owned pub.
More Than Just Fundraising
Beyond the financial success, the event highlighted something even more powerful—the strength of the community. Neighbours caught up over cake, families searched for hidden gems together, and long-time residents reminisced about the role The Boot Inn once played in village life.
The support stretched beyond Shipton Bellinger, with visitors from further afield showing up to lend their backing to the campaign. Many left not just with bags full of bargains but with a renewed sense of enthusiasm and commitment to the cause.
This wasn’t just a jumble sale—it was a reminder that when a community comes together, real change is possible.
A Huge Thank You
None of this would have been possible without the incredible volunteers, generous donors, and everyone who came along to support the event. Whether you donated items, baked cakes, set up tables, ran a stall, or simply turned up to browse and buy—thank you!
This event was proof of what we can achieve together, and with continued effort and dedication, The Boot Inn will be back where it belongs.
